that's why I have no excuse. I am the only one who messes it up anymore. So, I had breakfast, and started making lists, which really do help me organize what I need to do. I go through each room and list EVERYTHING I want done. Then, I prioritize, assign a time limit, and play beat the clock. It works for me. Right now, I'm at my desk, having a cup of coffee, and listing the things that need to be done right here. My desk is a mess, but could really be cleared in about 15 minutes. I just have to stop putting up with it.
hey all,
Boo 2 grandaughters ,son-in-law,daughter and myself! We just couldn,t help ourselves Ohhhhh I want one of those......Over and over= 80 chicks. It was a great experience sitting around the computer screen as a family. It will be fun to hone our flocks. A good learning experience for us all and there is craigslist for extras. although I have a hard time letting them go. My thanks to Marti poultry for their patience. The funny thing about this whole thing is my son-in-law is scared to death of chickens. Bless his bones he will visibly tremble when the children are toting a hen around and get close to him. But being the trooper he is he built a monster brooder and is buildinga great chicken pen. Go Troy!
Ok orp, I used to spring clean Drag it all out but now not so much. I just get real serious when company is coming. I also want to Thank-you for making me feel welcome.
pk-Just a thought-when you have to watch your brothers is it possible to take them with you? My grandkids love to go for walks. If they are older maybe they could ride their bikes. Younger maybe in a stroller? I used to pull my toddlers in a little red wagon.
mamagardner- Oh how I remember those days but looking back they were but fleeting moments. Enjoy them!
Oh, my desk area is a huge mess. But for several months now, DH and I have been sharing the same desk. His laptop at one corner, my computer at the other. Its hard sharing space, we bump into each other if on at the same time. But we can't both be online at the same time. And he works from home a lot, so he gets the internet.
Anyway, I like to blame him for the messy desk, but truth is, it would be a mess anyway, but it is double mess!! And he has so much stuff in the house, and I can't organize for him, and well, yes, it gets so overwhelming. When I stayed home all the time, I could look at stuff for a few days and figure out what to do with it, now, I just don't know where to move it to! lol
I think we have collected too much over the years, and never really had good places to keep things. I lack organization skills, once in awhile I can do it!! And when I get home from work and find messes, I don't feel like dealing, not my mess, and I'm dead beat after feeding 500 breakfasts and 500 lunches. And all the other work that goes with that. I'm the only lunch lady there, and I have produce to wash, and orders to put away, I cashier, and supervise and clean, and dust, milk deliveries, cooking and all kinds of stuff.
And my desk at work is a mess, and I clean it up, then it gets messy again, cuz there is a lot of paperwork. I set it on my desk and get to it at the end of the day or the next day, so there is always stuff on my desk at work too!
Micah, glad you're feeling welcome here. That's what we were aiming for when we started this thread.
When you get all those chickies, we are expecting pics! LOTS of them!
We live vicariously here.
I will be getting three little black ameraucana babies myself soon.
Boo, I can completely understand why your desk is a mess. It complicates things a lot when you share. And, you have organizationally intense job. Once again, I must say, I have no excuse. Even when DSO is here using my computer, he takes his mess with hm when he is done. And, my music teaching mess is in the other room. (and also on the lists today.)
So far, I have gone through all but one room in the house and made my lists. Just one more list, and then I will move like I am shot out of a cannon. It's much more fun when I play beat the clock. Plus, then it gets done faster, which makes me happy, too. Slow=Sad. Fast=Fun. Ooh, alliteration. I wasn't even trying for that. Sorry I'm such a geek!

mamagardener, when my three boys were young, my frustration level with cleaning was through the roof! I came to the conclusion that they liked a nice clean room, which is why they would gravitate to whatever I had just cleaned. Luckily, they are now grown, and all know how to clean.
Sometimes when I look at all that has to be done, and feel like there just isn't enough time, I remind myself, it only takes 10 mins to do this or that, and tackle it one step at a time. Yes, sort of a 'beat the clock' game. It seems as if you have and endless amount of time to do stuff, it doesn't get done, but when you have a time to beat, you get it done!
Like the dishes, I can't seem to get them done, but once I find out some one will be here in a few minutes, that kitchen can be clean lickity split!
