I'm making more sourdough bread. My arms are tired from kneading, but it will be worth it!

....Japanese imported chicken cell phone charm....hmmm, you got me all confused. is it a charm that looks like a cell phone shaped like a chicken? or is it a charming cell phone that looks like a japanese chicken?

Mmm, sour-dough! Tasty! I bet it'll be awesome!

Oops! I ment it is a stuffed chicken cell phone charm that was imported from Japan. It looks like an egg, but with hen features.

And I now know how to make finite loops on BASIC!!! Woot!

accident, accident.....well all of the recent deaths have been due to circumstances beyond my control..... a chick escaped from brooder and chilled, chick died 24 hours after hatch, for no obvious reason, teenage chick died from a serious head pecking and the resulting infection, but none of those things are really "accidents" as I define the word.
Hmmmm, before that I butchered a spare roo, on purpose. Before that a cockerel died from Fowl Cholera. Before that I shot a stray cat in the trap, on purpose. Before THAT......uh, I can't remember that far back.....

I killed a raccoon on purpose, a black widow on purpose, . . . . I'm sure that I have accidentally killed some insects, but I don't remember accidentally killing anything recently.

One time we accidentally killed a Beta fish.
My sister and I were pretty young fish owners, and we had this male Beta in a 5gal tank (with a filter/airater and lamp, not just a tiny bowl) and we would take him out and do a full water change - not knowing any better at the time because I was about 12 and it was our first fish. Well, he lived a good long life with us, 3-4 years I think, but this particular time we put him in water that was kinda warm.....I guess it was too hot. When we went to get him to put back in the tank he was floating belly-up. We had a funeral of course, and all that jazz. I think we buried 4 or 5 fish along the back fenceline. Toilet funerals were just not our style.
Later I went into the fish keeping hobby for a while (pre-chickens) and learned about gradient temperature changes and 30% max water changes.....

I'm just gonna pick a few topics for now.
The last thing I accidentally killed? It was my chicks:( My fault for not totally securing the coop and for throwing the last bite of my sandwich into the coop with my son's dog watching (She killed 5 of 7). I'm okay with death, but I was very angry with myself for being so irresponsible.
The top of my desk? Ha Ha yeah, I can see the top of it. There are a few square inches of space between the mouse pad and the edge.
Highest Mountain? Mount Massive in Colorado, 14,421 ft above sea level. It is the 3rd highest peak in the lower 48. I summitted it in January of 1992 along with 14 other high school seniors as part of an outdoor education trip, yeah, I'm proud of that one! Winter mountaineering isn't for everyone.
Favorite thing about my yard? It's mine! I love my yard, the piles of rocks, the blooming bushes, and trees, the red dirt, the broken down Volkswagen bug and bus out front to keep the property values reasonable. But besides the chickens and their coop, (made of a pickup topper

), I'm totally fascinated with my compost pile.

Hi Everyone!

Moabite, nice to meet you. Pull up a chair. We're usually quite talkative. For some reason we have been a little busy lately.

So, that brings me to our next note.....

Note #29 - What are the top 2 things that have been making your life crazy-busy lately?

For me, the first thing would be everything I have had to do to accommodate my new renter. I thought that was an empty bedroom, but boy was I wrong! By the time I got all my *stuff* out of that *empty* room, I had filled all the comfortably empty corners in my house.

Plus, then I had to clean out half the fridge and at least a little bit of my cupboards. Yikes! I think I'm a food hoarder.

Second thing was the arrival of the new chicks. Their soooo cute, but I am hugely distracted by playing with them and making sure their temp is just right, etc, etc. That reminds me, I need to go check on them.

Have a great Friday!

Note #29 - What are the top 2 things that have been making your life crazy-busy lately?

#1 is Work! My friend and cubicle partner transferred to another city and job. I took over her duties until the position was filled. It took two months for the new person to come on and now I'm teaching that person the job while still doing my job. I'm so tired in the mornings that I don't want to get out of bed!

#2 is Home - Daughter #1 is getting ready to go to San Diego in the fall. Daughter #2 moved back home with her one month old baby. I'm trying to finish the chicken coop but it is raining here.

Otherwise, things are fine! LOL
