The Lady Dragon

What is a dragon without a smoke and fire?

You cannot expect the firebreather to cool off completely, especially with the little ones running about.. Gives her all the more reason to rampage..

This morning she seemed better. She still runs around stepping on them in her fluffed up dance to get away from me. The chicks just freeze, confused in all her drama. I just feed and water and count for five babies and leave. She is a drama queen.

Gotta love the broodys!!! they remind me of turkeys when they are all flared out like that. Took mine a month to settle down then she just up and left the little ones to go out on a date with the rooster she had been missing for awhile. She still sleeps in the same pen as the babies (who are not quite babies anymore) but she pecks at them every chance she gets... not aggressive just to say go on now your old enough to take care of yourself. It is the best when you get to witness all that... I just love it and cant wait for another opportunity to see nature at its best

Well this morning was nuts. I found three small eggs in a nest in the broody house. She is trying to sit on these eggs. I had to fight her off the nest. That wasn't easy. The 5 chicks are running around chirping very loudly. After I removed the eggs and covered the nest boxes she seemed fine. She settled down and the chicks came to be with her. I don't know what goes thru her head. She is a puzzle. All of ya'll have such funny coments. Thanks.

I wish someone would do a short video of a broody hen getting irritated at being messed with. I'd love to hear the sounds they make and see what they do!

Thats an idea. I could here her sounds before I even open the door. That will give me something to think about.
