It is so hard to lose a grandparent (or anyone you love). I'm so sorry, Jared. Prayers here for you and your family. Keep those memories of your grandpa alive for you kids - they'll appreciate the stories!
I love that song. It makes me think of many people I have know and still know. I have enjoyed some of the little stories on this thread - it's neat.
My great-grandfather died before I was born, but he wrote a bunch of his "Life Records of Close Calls from Death" and I have a copy of those stories. It's amazing to read them and imagine the man he must have been. He walked 5 miles to vote when he was 103 years old and then walked back home! My grandpa died when I was 2, but I wish so badly I had gotten the chance to know him. My grandma was a very tough woman who raised her 12 kids and taught me a lot before she died when I was 12 (I practically grew up at her house, on the farm because we lived just up the hill from the farm). I miss them all so much! I am also thankful for my maternal grandparents who are still living.
