@SwedishDude99 my neighbors aren't keen about my chickens in the first place. I can't take the chance of losing them all over a rooster, but OMG is he nice and beautiful. I will miss him. *super sad face* Although I started looking for an acreage property today. I do NOT want to go through this again!
I could t agree more. Some people just don't understand why we would want to raise livestock when you could just go pick stuff up at the store. And for some reason they decide to get mad about it and complain about things that are simply a common misconception. They have no reason to do it, because like you said, if taken care of, chickens are not loud, and they don't smell. I would have more chickens than I could count if I had land where I wouldn't be bothered by people who choose not to try to understand. Then again, I have neighbors who are amazing people too! And I have no doubt my roo will crow when he sees light. At about 9:00 every morning I will put him back in with his hens. I figure as long as people aren't sleeping it's ok. And if there isn't another roo around to challenge him, he will probably only crow a couple times a day. It does depend on personality though. He could possible crow all day long. If he does crow constantly, I will have to rehome him.![]()
