"Sort of like light and me?" Sylvia said, "Except I don't really communicate, just bend through understanding." she popped up above Calliope, not looking at Attollo.
"Kind of," Suzie said. "But it's more like-- speaking without words, if you get my drift. Talking with images and sounds and feelings and impressions, but you are using words. There's just no language for them."

"How can it help us find them?" Kate asked.
"The Grandfather Oak, (that's what I call him,) touches the roots of the first trees of the forest. And their roots touch other roots, and so on and so on. But his roots go farther than any other plant. He is the Guardian of the Forest."
 
A small, petite black she-wolf with hints of bluish fur at the tips of her ears and tail was slowly picking her way across the valley. She had a delicate frame, but a strong look to her and her head was held high, as well as her tail as the gentle breeze brushed against her fur.
