"Is it now?" Maggie said calmly. The fire went out suddenly, including the fire claws on her feet. "Wisp," Maggie said. The smallest bat opened her mouth, making the almost-inaudible clicks that bats use for echolocation. The bones in the owl's wings shattered, as did the eardrums of the dark animals.Suddenly the owl's flight feathers caught fire. Three dark shapes flew down, two of them heading for the dark animals and the largest hovering in front of Neptune. "This way!" Maggie yelled.
The owl, surprisingly, was unaffected. "You idiot! Fire is my best element!" The fire spread to the owl's other feathers, and she laughed maniacally.
