The Leghorn

At what age should the comb be turning red if its a male bird.. im hoping I have girls... but im not sure... any help would be appreciated....

A males comb will start turning red between 4-6 weeks.

So far all mine are still yellow and im guessing they are about 4 weeks now.. we got them on April second.. and was already growing their wings and tail feathers.... TSC had them labled ss Rustic Rangers... im guessing that they are Leghorn and im praying they are all females.. i cant have rosters where i live.. i will post photos of them in the order of them aging... the last one was taken yesterday...

I would guess the one in the last picture is a pullet, but it is a bit early to tell.

I didn't know much about Leghorns when I got my chickens but her comb developed so much faster than the others. I was sure she was a rooster until an egg showed up. Ironically, even though all of the other chickens are twice her size, SHE'S the head hen

Leghorns are Bossy, studies have shown that it's a side effect trait for selecting high volume of eggs for production.
