I'm glad I'm not the only one who has done this!!! There were three different days I brought my girls into the kitchen last year, the hottest was 118w/heat index. The dogs were in, the cats were in, I just couldn't see the chickens suffering that way. I'm hoping this summer is cooler, because I have a lot more chickens this year...lol.

Oh my goodness! You can buy these great bins at Target for about 10$ that make great "indoor chicken bins" when you need them to stay inside for a bit but down want the mess on your floors. They are about 2 by 4 ft and plenty tall for them to just hang out in for a day or so.

the chicks bring them selfs in and they walk right over to the chair and lay down right in front of the swamp cooler. sadly for teh chicks starting tommrow I go back to work from 7:30 to 6pm so they will have to stay in there coop and run. but my mother will be going out during the heat of the day to give them frozen watermelon and spraying down the coop and run. I cant wait till September and we will not have to worry about the heat anymore. they also have cool air blowing into the coop too and sand on the floor of there coop they lay in once its hosed down.
