Chapter Six
Sky has become my snuggle buddy lately, and we were dozing together. The human came in our room, and dumped a bunch of flat, colored things onto her flat, wooden, propped up thing. She sat down, and opened one. Humans are so weird! All she does with those things is stare at them! What does that even do! There were tiny scribbles on the flaps. She slowly turned each one. I snuggled into Sky's feathers, and closed my eyes.
Suddenly, the thing slammed shut. Scared, I pulled away from Sky and flattened my feathers.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Apple! I didn't mean to scare my little budgie girl!"
Besides me, Sky was equally alarmed.
"It's ok, by the tone of her voice, it was an accident," I squeaked.
"I never thought someday you would actually sound like me," He replyed in amusement.
I climbed down my ladder to my food bowl, and ate some of the crumbly pellets. Then, I hopped back to my perch. I was bored.
Sky flew to the swing, and sat there, balancing, as it swung to and fro. I hopped on, too, but there wasn't enough room for both of us.
"Get off, it's mine!", I squealed while fighting him with my beak. He fought back, but didn't say anything. Finally, I managed to push him off.
"Bossy!" He declared.
"Maybe I am!" I chirped back.
" I can definetly see that."
"Yup." I began to doze off again.
"Hey keets, don't fight! Let's all just be friends, ok?" The human said unaware that we were just playing. She took Sky out, and talked to him.
I chirped frantically at him, "What do you think she said? Does she think we were actually hurting each other?"
Before he could reply, the human grunted, "I should have known this would happen. See, Sky? Apple is threatening you! Apple, please be nice! I guess you won't until..." She put Sky on top of our cage, and he tried to get in.
The human left. When she returned, she carried another cage. What was that for?
"I'm sorry, keets, but I'll have to seperate you until you can get along," she said sadly. She put Sky in the other cage.
"Sky! Why did she do that?" I screeched nervously.
"Don't be mad at Sky, you two will get along fine in a few weeks," the human said staring at me. I screeched at her some more, demanding my friend back. She ignored me, and said, "It's going to be all right." to herself.
