The Little Tikes Henhouse is here

Great idea. For insulation, you could drill some small holes in the top of the walls in several spots and use spray foam to fill up, just make sure you don't spray to much because it expands

The white one with a gray head in the 3rd photo is an Ameraucana - it took me posting photos on here a week ago to finally figure out which was which, and she was the one I was most confused about.

The white one in the last photo is a white leghorn (bought her because she was described as "an egg laying machine").

I did forget to mention that it is very easy to move. We've actually been moving it twice a day to spread the fertilizer around the yard (or reduce the large piles of poop, however you want to look at it). In fact, it can be moved by one person while all 5 girls sit on the roost and don't budge.

Funny comment about the slide, as one of their favorite places to hang out is under our slide, right at the end where it comes to the ground. It forms a little three-sided area that all five chicks can just fit it - that's where they were when I came home today. They're also pretty interested in the Little Tikes car (fortunately all the Little Tykes stuff were hand-me-downs!)

We're having fun with it so far. Glad you all like it.

BRILLIANT! I have been lurking here for several weeks as my babies grew. This is perfect for my neighborhood where, although we can have chickens, we can't have 'buildings, sheds, etc' of any sort. I found a toddler playhouse at Goodwill for $20 and my three 8 week old girls love it. I have to customize it a bit before they can stay overnight. Thanks for the wonderful idea!

Now I*m kicking my self for not buying the one I saw last weekend for $25. Nice job!

Great Idea!

I wish I had seen one of these little tikes playhouse conversions to a coop before I sold our playhouse off a couple of years ago.

I agree with Nifty, there should be one of these in the coop pages.

I love it!

I a a little cocnerned however about the wire bottom of the cage. Poor babies don't have a "floor" or "ground" to scratch on.

Will you be providing them some earth to touch?

I just got one yesterday. It's a "log cabin". I'm going to make it into a tractor for 5-6 red sexies.

I'm going to get a few more and build myself a little village!!!

I am sure it's just their coop. They probally free range during the day...i hope

But the wire floor is bad for their feet and can cause bumblefoot. I would suggest letting them have dirt floor or make a plywood floor with kitchen or bathroom cheep tiles~
