I'm all excited for my 2 "little" girls! They are almost 3 months old & they've been in the coop with the three older hens for about 3 weeks now, in an area sectioned off with chicken wire. The littles can get in and out of there, but the big girls can't. They also can hide in an opposite corner behind sme supplies that the bigs can't get behind. Sometimes I shut the big girls in the coop and let the littles have the run, or visa versa. All in all the introduction is going fine.
Last night at bedtime, the littles were in the corner when I came to put everyone up for the night. We'd been playing cards and it was a bit later than usual. The bigs were already up on the perch settled in for the night. So I took a deep breath and lifted the littles onto the perch, waited for everyone to settle back to sleep and called it a night.
This morning, everyone was still alive and had all their feathers! Yeah!! Being a chicken mom is so fun
