Chapter 3

I woke, I was alone. Everyone was out already. Wow, I must really needed my sleep. I flew down and ate and drank. I came out of the coop destined to find Emma. I ran over to Mattie and asked him if Emma was out yet. He looked at me sadly.
"Umm,Han-Hannah. She-I haven't seen her yet."
The trembling started all over again. I went under a tree to get some shade since it was hot and the sun was gleaming. Pepper came over.
"Hey girl! Don't be so glum! It's ruining this great day! It's so pretty out! Come on! Let's go catch some bugs!" She was always the happy girl, she was never sad.
"Alright." I didn't really want to, but I did. We went out by the pond and I saw horse flys, mosiquitos, dragonflys, butterflys, and way more. I saw a dragonfly and I pecked at it and showed Pepper that I caught one before her. It was a big, juicy dragonfly. She was jealous. I laughed! It was the first time I laughed since Emma.... Oh great here comes the tears again. Pepper saw me and she comforted me.
"Hey, Hannah... It'll be alright. Emma is a strong girl."
I couldn't say anything. I would have had that shake in my voice.

The sun was going down and it was getting to be nighttime. Still no Emma. I barely had any hope left. I finally got comfy next to Ethel and Pepper before I heard a huge clucking scream.

Chapter 4

It awoke everyone! Jaz... I could hear him. I think he was fighting something off. I just noticed that the man or girl hasn't even closed the door yet for the night. I heard a squeal... Jaz's or the monster's? All the sudden I saw something scurry out of the hen house and into the woods. I flew down and went in the hen house to see if everyone was alright. Jaz had scratches and Ally did too.
"Racoon." Jaz said.
My mouth was opened in ah. "And you fought it off?"
"Yeah, dug my spur right into his heart." He said with braveness.
I smiled and hugged him. He was a hero! I forgot he didn't like hugs, but he actually gave me a hug back. That was a first. The man was coming down to lock us up so I went back on my roost in the coop. I told everyone there what Jaz did. They were sure happy! After a while of excitment I fell right into deep sleep.

Morning. Morning. It's morning. The door was open, but not everyone was out and about. I flew down, skipping breakfast. I ran and ran and ran, up to the girl's house. I wanted to see Emma. But now I had no hope. Jaz came over and said he hasn't seen her yet, but he still had hope. I had a gut feeling that she'd never come back to us. Why did this have to happened to her!? Why!? I went back down to the coop and ate and drank. After that, I just stood there... for a while. I was alone. I felt so alone.
