Chapter 40

2 hours later... it was starting to get a bit hot. I was panting, but Lilly and Rose seemed perfectly fine... well 'cause they aren't fully feathered like I am. We walked a long ways. We might be able to get to the coop by night or in the morning. Hopefully by tonight. I really just want to be home. I missed my friends. I wonder how Pepper and Ethel are doing... I hope they aren't sick, I hope they are as heathy as a horse!
My stomache growled.
"Hey girls, let's find a clearing or a pond and eat and drink. I could really use the break." I said to everyone.
Lilly said something first. "Yeah! I getting thirsty..."
Rose agreed with her and we went on looking around for water and food.
We did end up catching some grasshoppers and beetles, but nothing else. We also couldn't find any water source.
As the day went on, it got hotter. Even Lilly and Rose were panting now!
"Mammy, I getting super duper thirsty!" Rose churped.
"I know, I know honey." I soothed her.
We finally found a clearing after another agonizing hour. we sat in the shade and slept a little bit while Bambi went off to find a water source.
It was nice sitting in the shade. It was like 10 degrees lower than in the sun!
When Bambi came back she shaked her head and we all knew what that ment. No water anywhere. Bambi sat down next to us in the shade and relaxed and slept. My mouth was really dry and I needed water.
"We need to find water!" I paniced.
I couldn't stay like this anymore!
"Bambi?" I poked her with my wing. She opened her eyes. "I am going to look for a water source, can you watch my Little Miracles for me please? Just for a little bit." She nodded. "Lilly, Rose? Come over here and snuggle with Aunty. She will look after you while I try to find some water!"
They obeyed and slugged over to Bambi and plopped right down and went to sleep.
I went north, anticapting for a water source.
Five minutes later I heard a scream. I looked south. I paniced and rushed to the clearing as fast as I could!
