Chapter 9

The man came down and started talking, "What the!" He saw the mink.... "A dead mink?"
He picked it up and went off with it and opened the gate also. The "Mattie's a hero!" phase was still on. All the ladies loved him.
"Hey!" Pepper came up to me while I was drinking. "How about that fight!? Holy crap that was awesome!"
I smiled at her, "Hey let's go catch some bugs again after I do my daily business"
She nodded and smiled and went off to eat and I went in the hen house.

When I was done Pepper was still there (thank goodness). We went to a pond and starting to catch some bugs. Ethel decided to come with us too. We all caught some juicy dragonflies, butterflies, dug up some worms, and whatever else we found. It was a lot of fun to be with my best friends and not have to worry what happened in the past.
We were full and went up to dust bathe. Mattie and his ladies were there. It sickened me to see that.
Ethel whispered to me, "You liiiike him."
"Be quiet! I do not," I blushed and looked away.
It was hot out so it was nice to feel that cool dirt on me.
One of Matt's ladies were talking to him, her name was Lila. "We should get outta here and go eat." She looked at us in a mean way. I knew she wanted to go because we were there, but whatever.
We finished. Everything seemed so normal now, but still different without Emz.

Chapter 10

It was a beautiful morning when I woke up. The gate was already opened and Ethel and Pepper were still asleep. I woke them up. We all flew down from our roosts and ate. When we were done we decided to take the day traveling around the HUGE yard. We went deep into the woods, we weren't really scared of anything because what happened with the mink. We went deeper and deeper....
"Ethel," I started to say, "are you sure you know where we are going?"
"Uh-yes... of course! Why wouldn't I?" She sounded nervous. She was really the only one that knew these forests.
I decided to trust her. But I still wonder if it was a mistake.
We finally got to a small pond.
"I never knew this was here." I said.
Guess we have 4 ponds now. But it still was very small.
All day we caught bugs, played hide and seek, and tag. We were bored outta our minds so thats what we did.
"We should head back now...." Pepper said.
Me and Ethel nodded. We started to head for the coop, but we really didn't know where we were going. All around us there were trees, bushes, buzzing bees, and weeds. It was getting towards dark. We'd be up in the roost by now.
"Uh-oh, guys?" Pepper said, "We are just going to have to hide way up in a tree and sleep there. There is no way we will get back on time to roost."
"She's right," I said.
We found a nice looking tree that could hold us all and snuggled in it. I was kinda scared to be honest what will hapen tonight. I was half-asleep when I heard sticks braking and leave crunching.

And leaves crunching... the suspense is killing me. I have got to know what happens. I need more of the story. Having withdrawals already.
