Chapter 45

We did end up finding water and we chatted. It was weird when Emma was in a deer body and not in her regular chicken body.
"I think we are almost home Emma!" I looked up to her and smiled.
"Yeah, I know we are!" She replied back.
Then I turned to my girls, "Girls... we are almost home! Soon enough you'll meet your new auntys!" They cheered, they were very excited to meet Ethel and Pepper!
We continued walking and I saw something. I squinted. "Hey... Emma... what is that?" I pointed to the thing with my wing. She squinted too.
"I don't know." She finally said.
I went closer to it then a big bright smile stretched across my face.
"The coop!" I screamed. I ran as fast as I could leaving Emma and my girls behind. "Ethel!? Pepper!?" I yelled.
When I finally got out all the bushes, the whole coop showed up. It was deserted... I was confused. I screamed once more for Ethel and Pepper. I looked behind me and told Emma to watch over my girls. Then I ran all around to find them... no one... was around. Was this a dream?
"Ethel? Pepper? Jaz? Anybody?" I started to feel alone again....
Maybe they could be in the woods... I went around into the other woods and looked, I saw a black tail. Pepper!
"Pepper!" Pepper turned around slowly. It was her! But where was everyone else?
"Hannah...." She went up and hugged me, tears rolling down her eyes.
"Pepper... where is everyone? Where's Ethel?" I asked her.
"Hannah...." She broke out into more tears. "Hannah... Ethel... she got really sick. She starting sneezing like crazy and had raspy breathing. She was also limping. She was tired all the time and the girl took her in. She has been gone for a week. I don't know what happened." I shook my head... no... this cannot be happening. Tears started pouring out of my eyes. I didn't know what to say to that... I really couldn't say anything, I was crying really hard.
We hugged each other for a long time. Then I asked, "Where is everyone else?"
She looked up at me, "Two other hens are sick also. Ally and Tal. Everyone else is off in the pine trees. We sorta had a hawk attack, so we're all hiding."
That explained that. We stood there hugging and crying... who knows for how long.
