The "Love Thy Neighbor" Hatch Thread

Well, I had to remove another of my eggs tonight. One of the oldest ones. It was "weeping" and was stuck to the carton.

Also, after 10 days of solid temps, and after staying stable pretty much when I added the new eggs, I am now getting wild swings today. From 95 to 108. Geez. What's up with that??

It's down to 95.8 so I am keeping it closed and watching. That's not air temp. It's water wiggler temp. Also had an air temp spike of 108, but water wiggler temp never got above 102, so it must not have stayed that way long. Hopefully it means this very full bator is growing babies. What y'all think???

ohhh the unmarked small egg is a mille fleur booted bantam. At some point I'll send you more if you want them for breeding

Duh, figured it out. I unplugged the fan thinking I am was gonna unplug the cell charger. So I plugged it back up and it's getting better. Hope it didn't take too long and kill my babies.

It was just one day, right? Plenty of people have had power outages or accidentally unplugged the 'bator for a whole day and still had great hatches. And, if the water-wiggler temp. never exceeded 102, I doubt they overheated to the point of damaging them at all.
I'm sure they'll be fine!

uuuggghhh, I came home last night and the incubator was off! I don't know if my nephew tripped on the cord, or if the dogs knocked it loose, but it was off. The temp inside was about 72, hopefully at least some of them make it

Thanks, Annarie! That's what I am hoping. I think we're ok on that.

Danielle, keep us updated as you candle. Hope they make it, too! I know your heart had to hit your feet when you saw that!

I've done some "spot checks" but today is day 7 and I'm going to do the big candle in just a bit.

My other eggs, from the hens that the coyotes got, have 2 viable chicks that will go on lockdown Thursday! yayy. I knew the other 4 eggs were old but tried them anyway. Three of the 4 started but quit around days 8-10.

So I'll post the update in a bit. Everyone else, how are your eggs looking??

And Lovin - I have been looking at the Mille Fleur and learning about it. They are gorgeous and I'd definitely like to buy some from you after this hatch.

Oh, by the way, I had TWO unmarked small "cream" colored eggs instead of one! Does that mean two Mille Fleur babies possibly? The other small eggs are marked SPL and Frizzle and are different colors from these two.

Yup two mille fleur booted bantam eggs... The booteds look like the d'uccle but have wattles and are a little bigger.
