"Really?!" Connor suddenly stood up and let out his first crow. It was extremely cringey but he didn't mind.

The two older pullets smiled at him. "That was great!" said Sunflower. "Try again, it might sound a little better."

"My poor egg. I just wanted a chick like everybody else," she continued to try to put the egg shell pieces back together, "and now I'll never get one."

"There was no chick in there, Daffy." Said Sage sorrowfully. "I'm sorry.''

 

[Little Baby Bean]

The two older pullets smiled at him. "That was great!" said Sunflower. "Try again, it might sound a little better."

Connor was glad that the ladies enjoyed it and he tried to crow again. Nothing came out this time and he tried again. He couldn't get it out but he felt it in his lungs. He tried again and a lower, less cringey crow came out.

"But-but," Daffy ran away from Sage, and even farther from the clearing. She was crushed by what Sage had done to her egg.

"Great!" Said Sunflower. Flower, who was walking by, overheard and came over. "That was awesome, Conner!" she said brightly. (She's one of Eerie's chicks, and is the same age as Ruby's chicks.)

"But-but," Daffy ran away from Sage, and even farther from the clearing. She was crushed by what Sage had done to her egg.

Sage hung her head. She knew well enough, there was no reasoning with a broody. She went over to Ruby. "Ruby, you need to go talk to her." She said quietly. She explained what had happened.

Fang shook her feathers brightly. Today was a new day. Yesterday had been her first egg. She had also learned that if she wanted to have chicks, she can't lay in a tree. Bummer.

" I agree", Midnight said. He turned his attention to both Coal and Splash,"Do either of you want to go explore the woods?"

"Sure", Coal replied.

Dew kept running. No one had even been chasing her, but she still ran.

Dew finally slurped up the worm. She flapped and ran over to Splash and Coal.

"Great!" Said Sunflower. Flower, who was walking by, overheard and came over. "That was awesome, Conner!" she said brightly. (She's one of Eerie's chicks, and is the same age as Ruby's chicks.)

Connor looked over at Flower and crowed again accidentally. He couldn't control it yet. "Thanks, Flower!"
