"10 days now."Minerva smiled. "I love them." She said, rolling one of the eggs over. "Their going to be so beautiful when they hatch. I've never hatched eggs before. But I'm excited. How many weeks in are they?"
Minerva squeaked with delight. "I only have to wait 11 more days!?" She began turning the other eggs. "Whose eggs..." Minerva trailed off. Was it too soon to ask him about his mate?"10 days now."
"Her name was Cattail." He murmured. "She was pale rosy brown, with white spots on her chest. She had such pretty yellow eyes. We met as loners. She was the love of my life. And now shes's dead." Minerva looked at the crying roo. She had never seen one cry before. Astonished, she walked over and did her best to comfort the bird. "She sounded beautiful." Minerva said, looking him in the eyes."Her name was Cattail." He murmured. "She was pale rosy brown, with white spots on her chest. She had such pretty yellow eyes. We met as loners. "And now she's gone forever." He whispered.Minerva looked at the crying roo. She had never seen one cry before. Astonished, she walked over and did her best to comfort the bird. "She sounded beautiful." Minerva said, looking him in the eyes.
"You'll see her again." Minerva comforted. "One day." Minerva left the rooster and went over to the eggs. "Buuuut meanwhile," She continued in happier tones, "We can help these eggs out. Did you guys ever pick any names out? We should be absolutely prepared." The young hen was so exited to hatch eggs of her own and, like any new mother, was over planning."And now she's gone forever." He whispered.
"Lily and Star." Minerva repeated, lovingly. "Can- can I name some? Since... Well I'm sorta... raising them? With you?" After saying this it put a whole new perspective of the rooster in her mind. Her heart began to jump around in her chest. She had always wanted a mate... But no. This poor roo had gone through so much. She could never ask him. It would definitely remind him of the painful feeling of the past."She wanted to name one after her sister, Lily. Lily died when they were young." He said. "And I told her I loved the name Star, too."
