Rain scrambled over. “Hey, Fang?” She said. “Can I see your egg?”

Fang nodded. "yeah, it's uh Up in my tree. I caried it there in a big leaf." Fang beckoned Rain and then started climbing her tree.

Ruby's chicks were now in Ruby's burrow, waiting for her to come back. They were getting a bit cold so they all snuggled into a frizzled pile.

Fang nodded. "yeah, it's uh Up in my tree. I caried it there in a big leaf." Fang beckoned Rain and then started climbing her tree.

Rain climbed up after her, shakily.

Splash was laying out in the sun. She didn't know what her chicks were doing but she was just taking a bit of me time.

Flower and Wren peeped their heads in. “Our mum is out somewhere, so can we join? It’s a bit cold.” Said Flower.

Wren positioned herself at the front, her back pressed against the huddle, but otherwise not in it. She was practicing her watch. She kept her eyes fastened on the darkening den entrance.

Wren took a step outside, and then another. It was nearly dark, only the setting sun and the rising moon illuminated the ground. She heard a strange sound. Her head whipped around.
(okay, what do we want the sound to be? A predator? Another chicken?)
