The three chicks nodded. "We'll be back soon!" Cherry told Ruby and they all ran out of the burrow. They found the patch of mint and pulled a bunch from the ground. They ran back to the burrow with it in their mouth.

Sometimes, they would let captive hens out of their cages. The flock grew and grew. I grew up in it. But eventually, the humans came and killed almost all the chickens. I escaped. Ran deep into the woods, near here. I met Cattail there.”

Minerva was quite for some time. "Well, I should get back to the eggs. Let's talk more later. I really enjoyed it." She left and sat down on her eggs in the borrow.
