Web shot a glare at Prim and Dahlia.Dahlia snickered something about mental damage.
"Daffy-" Web winced. "I can't keep your baby. think of the mental damage that would give her!
“She doesn’t like me anyways,” Daffy told Web.Prim and Dahlia watched with interest.
Web would peck herself later, but she stood up. "Dilly, tell your mother that you love her!"“She doesn’t like me anyways,” Daffy told Web.
"You are a rat. You always have been, always will be. I've always known. Fang has always known. That day we found you in the woods, we took you in because we cared about you and always will. We knew what you were and what we were doing. And we did it, because we knew you could be more than just "rats."Ginger slumped back, she heard Fang. She didn't want Fang to know that she was a rat. "I will hear your words..." She said to Rain.
Dilly cheeped quietly. She had been seen.Web would peck herself later, but she stood up. "Dilly, tell your mother that you love her!"
"Rain-" Fang said. "Thank you.""You are a rat. You always have been, always will be. I've always known. Fang has always known. That day we found you in the woods, we took you in because we cared about you and always will. We knew what you were and what we were doing. And we did it, because we knew you could be more than just "rats."
Fang and I have long fought over whether and how to tell you. I said it was better for you to hear it from us; before you realized for yourselves and hated us for not telling you.
She wanted to wait. Because you little sweet vermin refused to believe you were anything but chicks.
It doesn't matter what you are, who you are. We love you. And we wanted to protect you however we could, but the truth is, we were stuck between a rock and a hard place. We could have done this better. But the past is the past. I need you to understand that you will never be a normal rat, because normal rats don't give a flick of their tails about chickens. And you two do, which is brilliant. You're brilliant. You speak Fowl and you care and you laugh and you shine and you MUST BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THAT IS WHAT MATTERS."
"Nobody gets to chose." Murmured Rain. "We can't choose how hard it rains...just how we keep ourselves from getting wet. That's what my mom always said.""Rain-" Fang said. "Thank you."
She came over to where Ginger was curled up under rain's wing. "It's true. Rain is strong where I am weak, and she didn't want to hurt you, and I didn't have the courage to be honest."
Ginger closed her eyes tight. She wanted to wish this whole ordeal away. "I don't want it to be true! Why couldn't I have been born with feathers? I didn't get to choose!"
(@EmmaRainboe )“What did they do to you?”
