The making of Quacker Shack.- Bio-Filter is unplanted and the pond is drained. /sigh

Good stuff.

It's definitely worth having the snails in your pond. They will help eat slime. I'd say that the ducks will eat the snails but those water snails do reproduce pretty fast.

What are you going to do with your fish?

Gonna go get some friends for it and plunk it in the pond. I figure the fish can hide on the bio-filter side but will keep the ducks occupied when they're in the main pond. Should be fun either way!

The pennywort. Planted right at the edge of the pond/biofilter. I just placed the roots in the rocks without planting them in the clay. Hoping that makes them extra biofiltery. ;) Purchased on Ebay

Blue pickerel rush. Also an ebay purchase.

Pilfered Arrow Arrum. Pilfered 3 from the local creek.

Pilfered pond grass of some sort. No idea. :) Pilfered duck weed is also in evidence here. I was hoping for a wider leaf duck weed but am perfectly okay with the small one.

Lots of pilfered cattails. 2 varieties.

My pond is so murky because my lovely assistant is OBSESSED with throwing things into it. I think there is probably 3 lbs of dirt in it right now. I can't even imagine how full it is with rocks. Oy!

Looks great!!!!!!!!!!! How exciting to see it filling up with water (despite the best efforts of your assistant).

Is the biofilter filled with dirt? See how that goes - normally it is gravel. But give the dirt a try.

Pretty funny that there is a sudden eBay rush on water hyacinth, LOL.
