Okay, here's today's weigh-in data!

Range: 44-53.75 oz. (2 lb. 12 oz. to 3 lb. 5 3/4 oz.)

Mean: 49.6 oz. (3.1 lbs.)
St. Dev.: 3.6 oz. (this isn't too surprising - I'm starting to be able to pick out the obvious roos. Maybe next week I can do a separate chart for hens and roos...)
Median: 50 oz.

Total Weight: 694 oz. / 43.4 lbs. - 48% gain from last week.

The temps have been cooler than I'd like, but they all seem fine in the tractor. I'm seeing some bloody-ish poop in the run, so I'll take a look for Corid when I go to Tractor Supply to load up on Flock Raiser. It's funny - I'm the devil because I pull up the food at night, while my husband is the angel because he puts the food down in the morning...

Our older birds should have gone into their tractor this week but my husband isn't quite finished with the new one. I'm hoping he will have it finished and at the farm on Monday or Tuesday so we can get that batch out of the brooder. We will be getting chicks every week in May so we need to build a new brooder as well. I won't be weighing all of those batches though, just too much to keep track of!

Well, I'm about to run out of food, and money this week is going to be a little short (my car broke down

), so I may go ahead and process on Wednesday. I haven't decided yet. If I do get another bag of feed, they will be processed a week from Wednesday. I'm looking forward to being done with them, and seeing how they taste! I'm sure my ducks will be glad to have them gone as well, since they are currently sharing housing.

What is wrong w/ my cornish hen? He/she is 3 weeks 3 days old- lays there- has trouble standing up right- falls over to the side. She doesn't seem very interested in eating, but will eat if I set her on the food, and will drink if I put her right next to the water. It almost seems that her wing miht be broken- any advice?

Could she be having leg problems? Maybe that is why she is falling over? Mine are dying from ascites, so I'm not much help.

I wondered about leg problems, but her legs don't appear broken- but I guess I'm not really sure how to tell- it just doesn't appear to be bent at an odd angle. She is pretty listless. What is ascites?

Two weeks old: Now weighing an average of 1 lb. 6oz. Everything still the same.

Wow week 3 already. Now weighing an average of 2lbs. 7 oz. The smallest is 2lb 2oz, I think it's a hen and I ordered all males, and a couple of real pigs at 2lb 12oz. Of course these two never go far from the food.
They are now in what I call the broiler barn. It is a hoop style building that has a solid front and back for a door and windows and the rest in covered in wire that is covered with tarp and has a solid floor. When it get hot, I can roll up the sides and let the fresh air in.
Same food and vitamins and they are still under heat lamps because it is still cold here. Today was the first day the light has been off, but I will have to turn it back on tonight because it is only going to be in the upper 40's.
