Ok chick experts... my last hatcher is not standing very well. She had not progressed any since yesterday so I hatched her out this morning. Left her to dry and by 6:30 was still not hopping around like the others. Should I use some wrap like you were talking about? the legs seem kinda splayed, but she just does not have her land legs yet. I have not added her in with the others she is still in the hatcher but i did put food and water in with her. I am keeping the hatcher on for the last 3 eggs just in case, but I have my doubts they will do anything. So if I do the wrap thin how long and will she be immobile and how will she eat and drink?

She will still eat and drink like normal after she feels like it. Did she bleed alot? The one me and the first lady took outta the shell bled and started off weak, but she's as big as any of 'em now at 12 weeks. with the taping the legs thing... just picture a staple in a piece of paper, just make the bandaid look like that on the top of the legs. Position the legs so that they are nice and straight then use the bandaid to "lock em in place like that", then just leave it like that for a good while, couple weeks at least, then test not using it to judge if it helped or not, or if you need to put another bandaid on it.

but just cause she ain't standing doesn't necessarily mean spraddle leg. That's a condition where their leg will naturally want to stick straight out to the side. If it's one you took out of the shell, just let her rest and observe.

In my opinion... not like I'm a huge expert... as demonstrated by that huge hatch where I said you had too much humidity!

there was no blood nothing weird. i picked her up and she talked to me but she had been in the same shape for well over a day so i thought what do i have to lose if I help. so i just cracked the shell and pulled to top off and she still didn't really do anything so I dumped her out. her head was pointed at the bottom of the shell but on the side where she pipped.

I am visual so maybe i can find a link with a picture of this taping thing. I did, http://www.poultryhelp.com/spraddle.html Maybe after she has some water and food she will be ok in the morning. I have not had any luck nursing a chicken so I am of the wait and see mentality too.

Thanks

BTW my shift key is not working great

When you wrap her legs she should still be able to walk IF it is spraddle leg. It may take her an hour or so to figure it out but she will. I use the vet tape and usually a couple days later they are fine without it. It is easy for me to tell when they are strong enough to take off the vet tape. If not spraddle leg, you can check the knee joint to see if it is a slipped tendon those are not as easy to fix.

I forget how stressful hatching can be uuggg! Crossing my finger for you little one.

Be aware that band-aided chicks will sometimes drown in the waterer if they gets overbalanced and fall in. Try and use a waterer with a very narrow space- like a quail waterer.
