The Middle Tennessee Thread

I am with you!  I am DONE till next year... early but next year.  I have been VERY restrained this year.  I didn't hatch for about 5 months and when I did hatch it was every 3 weeks and not every few days or a week apart.  I kind of liked it too.  NOT GOING TO HAVE FULL BROODERS THIS WINTER!  Now my pullets growing out... I have in spades but I can sell them in the spring.


Well... I may not be done for long now, lol!

I just picked up this gorgeous trio from Susan Mouw yesterday at the Knoxville Dixie Classic... the pullet facing the camera took Reserve Variety and then laid this just today!

Horse nettle is toxic, but, chickens won't eat it unless there is nothing else to eat! I run my chicken tractors in the pasture with an occasional horse nettle, and they have never eaten one that I know of. If so, no harm came to them! When I move the tractors, I try to dig up all kinds of pesky weeds like that. Maybe a losing battle!
