The Migratory/Ornamental Waterfowl INFO Thread

well,
Just got back yesterday from going to see my ol buddy Shawn. Was great to finally meet him in person after all these years. He hooked my brother up with his first ducks. Broght back 11 I think It was. Good to finally have at least a few back here on the farm, and even better to have got to mea long time BYC friend too.

Shawn,
I talked to my fishing buddies too after we got back. Think we might be ditching Mex Beach and spending most our time in your back yard now, so hopfully we'll get to see each other a little more this summer. They are already trying to plan a week long run over there this May, as well as any weekends we get weather wise.

Good luck with those megellans too, they were beautiful!

Well I went to a small auction this weeend and what did I get....

A Male Black Swan and I have found him a female that I am picing up in two weeks!! WOOH!!!

Life is good.. I also got a pair of Silver Pheasants..

What should I add next?

Some Harlequins or some red-breasted geese.

Destinduck,

Give me 5 years and hopefully I will have them. I want to build another avairy just for divers... or one for dabblers and move my divers but I need another well dug first.

I havent been to an auction in a while.Im going to try to go to one coming up. Mainly just to see some friends. Although some how I always seem to bring something back. I like going either way

Yeah this last one I went to was a small one and I went to take two pair of birds to see how they did and to take some birds that people had already bought.

I ended up with a 3 year old black swan, a pair of breeder silver pheasants, 2 hens and a rooster of somem rare breed of chicken that lays the dark brown eggs and some Bantan chickens... I am avoiding the big auction next weekend and going to a flea market that has birds :) and to pick up a female swan

Kanga wonderful you are finding what you need. The rare chickens sound like Buckeye. If you ever decide you want Bantam Rumpless & Tufted Araucana. I have plenty that need homes now so I can breed this year lol
