The Migratory/Ornamental Waterfowl INFO Thread

even better news,
The mans she posted on her website replied to me just now
Here's his e-mail

Aubrey,
The statement from Greg Balkcom is correct. This issue arose when I
was misinformed by our permit office due to a different interpretation
of the laws regarding state permits for waterfowl (or lack thereof). I
believe I know the lady that you spoke with and have informed her of the
misinterpretation. Thanks,
Charlie

That makes me feel even better, I knew as long as I have done this, and as many game officials that have been to my place, if it were illegal, I'd been informed a long time ago.

Still, whew!!!

Tell me about it!

If yall remember back a few months when she first told me about it, boy I was HOT!!!

But immediately checked into it and couldnt find any written law saying anything to that extent, and all my DNR replies were possitive that it wasnt the case.
Anyway, Georgia is still legal to posses waterfowl....

yep me too, they are very nice, just wish they werent so ornery! actually the ruddy's are about the worst too.
you might could get by in a big pen like yours IF you only had other aggressive or large species in it like pintails, barrows, widgeon, mandarins, treeducks, stuff like that
but with teal, bufflehead, smew, smaller genteler species, they'd have all their butt feathers ripped out in no time.

That's mainly what they do, grap birds by the butt and sling them around, kinda "goose" them in a way
