The Million dollar question... Is my Barred Rock a Hen or a Rooster

I'm fairly certain the Sex Link mix is a Hen, however the Barred Rock is starting to show signs of being male.

That's not a barred Rock. That is a mixed breed. They both look like cockerels.

Just over 10 weeks.

Bugger, if they both or either one turns out to be a cockerels they have to go... there's going to be two sad kids around here.

It's probably a rooster

No pullet would be that red in the comb at 10 weeks old. Sorry, but those are both boys.

If you still want chickens, but can't have roosters, try ordering sexlink pullets. You'll be guaranteed not to have accidental boys.

Here's a young barred rock rooster.

You could possibly have a Colombian rock or mixed breed. But the white one is a rooster. I think the black one likely is as well. Sorry

The Farm where I got them has offered to replace them with two chicks Born in May... Am I just going to go thru the same situation again?
