The Missing Heir RP

Aeron grinned back at Karok before dismounting and hitched his steed in front. He was glad that Karok did not seem to be worried about Aerons new identity, in fact the man seemed to think it was a joke, at least the diplomat would be easier to fool.

Now at the inn, Karok dismounted his horse and followed Aeron and Kira into the in. It was crowded and noisey. Many people who had far to much to drink tossed belittling comments at the group. Despite being angered over some of them, Karok kept his mouth shut and would not act unless ordered to.A bar brawl with a diplomat...sounds human.

Kira stayed close to Aeron and Karok. She looked around at the humans as they walked into the bar and swallowed quickly. She noticed the diplomat and his entourage and touched Aerons arm gently and pointed "There is the diplomat."

Aeron heard the insults as they past and felt his blood boil, but did not react, they'd be singing a different tune soon enough. He looked where Kira pointed and smiled; the diplomat was situated in the far corner, at a table with an official looking sheet of parchment laid in front of him, a man was singing his name on it with another waiting behind him.

Looking to where Kira had pointed, Karok saw the diplomat signing papers. It appeared he had several to stamp. This particular diplomat was familiar to Karok. It was last spring that the Zurian brought to the diplomat two traitors who were condemned to hang. Karok hated the man, despite having no authority over Karok, the diplomat demanded respect as if he were the king himself. Tiny, cowardly, pompous fool... Without wasting more time, Karok stepped to the table and addressed the diplomat. "I do believe you requested aid, my master wishes to speak with you on the matter." The Zurian was careful to speak with undertones that suggested Aeron had more respect from Karok than the diplomat.

((Sorry for how long this one is!))

The diplomat scowled in annoyance, as he noted Karoks tone. Aeron stepped forward and with an air of complete confidence and power over all, began to speak in a harsh, authoritative way, "I have come to offer my services in the search for our beloved princess..."
The man pointed to the parchment, "Then sign thy name," the diplomat said with a smirk.

Aeron gave the man a slight sneer, then signed it with a flourish. The diplomat snached it and peered at the name, his eyes widened as he realized the significance, switched his gaze to Aeron and back to the signature. "Thee art Malcom Desdemona?!" He said it as if just saying the name would bring death upon him, even his guards drew back. "That is I, and ye would be wise not to bandy it around..." Aeron replied with a venomous look as the man shrank away, fear prevalent on his round face.

The room had fallen silent when the diplomat spoke the name, and every head turned their way. Aeron continued, pressing his advantage, "I and my companions will be payed up front for are service –" The man cut him off in a wavering voice "Nay! Only when she is returned wilt –"
Aeron silenced him with a glare that plainly threatened death, and spoke in a much lower and quicker tone, "That is what I insist and if you ever wish to find the princess thee wilt agree to my demands..." They both looked at either for a long moment, the diplomat debating what he should do, staid silent.

"Let us be on our way," Aeron said with a nod to his companions, turned to leave and began walking away. As he was about to exit the inn, the diplomat yelled after the, "Wait!" Aeron turned to look at the man as he continued, "Ye wilt have thy payment by this e'en... The search party's leave next morrow and ye better be among them." The diplomat tried to sound threatening, but instead sounded as if pleading.

Aeron smiled, "Goodman, we'll set off in the morrow." He said, turned and walked out of the packed, but silent inn.

Kira stayed quiet and watched the two males speak with the diplomat. She managed to keep a blank face through the conversation, only grinning once they were back outside again. She looked at Aeron then at Karok "This will prove a most interesting adventure. " She said softly

"I agree my lady. I'm pleased at how you handled the rat." Karok had a smile across his face and a sense of satisfaction. Still he couldn't quite understand why Aeron wished to search for the princess. He certainly made plenty of coin from horses, why be involved in something so dire? Perhaps the reward is more than coin...Karok thought for only a moment.

Aeron also grinning and replied, "Thank you Karok, I enjoyed it greatly. Now let's get these horses boarded, find ourselves some drinks and a fine meal, then await our payment."

He didn't really care to find the princess, but he was sure Karok would not want to just run off with the gold, as he would. Also, it did sound like an adventure and he would be happy to travail anywhere is companions were willing.

Nodding, Karok took his horse and lead it to the neighboring stables. It was common to house steeds near inns as it was convenient for travelers. The sky was beginning to darken and the air was crisp now. Karok shivered a little and held his arms to his chest. "D*** this weather, there are times I wish it to be home. The plains are warm, and our cities have large fires about for comfort."
