The Moonshiner's Bootleg Incubator Reviews And Discussions

Pics
So I just saw the 20 egg Maticoopx is $99 on Amazon which makes more sense for me, now it is in the cart alongside the 30 egg waiting for the right time for me to pull the trigger.

Question, do you leave the eggs in turner the whole 21 days or remove turner for lockdown?
As I understand it, most remove the trays and lay the eggs on their sides on Day 18, same as what I've always done with my Hovabator and that's what I've seen on videos about this incubator. I thought about a 20 egg, but I dumped Amazon a long time ago and the only 20 I found on Ebay was the same price as the 30 egg one. I guess you could leave the eggs in the turner, but it would, IMO, just get in the way of the hatchlings doing what they do.

Is there an actual 20 egg Maticoopx or is it a knock off? I've seen a 20 egg one that was very similar but not a Maticoopx brand.

I take my eggs out of the turner on day 18. Remove the turner trays and the arm piece that attaches the trays together and to the motor. I don't want moving parts in there with hatched chicks.

FYI when I first used mine I noticed the eggs didn't quite fill the tray from end to end so I used something to fill the gap to keep the eggs from tipping over. Someone here suggested hair ties. I got some of the thicker kind and put them around the trays then snug them up to the eggs on both eggs. That works great.

@The Moonshiner... Just wanted to chime in and say thanks. I'm ordering a Maticoopx30 next week based alot on your recommendations here and in other threads.
Tell them Moony sent ya.
Maybe eventually they'll send me one of those 20 egg models.

Makes me wonder now if there really is a 20 egg version. I don't see an official one on their company site. Amazon sells it, but they also have vendors that are perpetrating scams on customers with thousands of Chinese knockoffs. It's one reason I left that place years ago (and older my son works there in returns, hates the place; if you only knew the disgusting things they allow to be returned then resold, repeatedly, you'd be completely grossed out-certain products he told them he will not process so they need not send them down his line).

By the way, for the many who have a Hovabator Genesis 1588 and have no idea you can actually adjust the hygrometer in it, you can. Mine has always run 10% low according to calibrated analog reptile hygros. I didn't know this for years myself and I've used mine since I had to replace my original Hova due to our house fire in 2013. I just reset it yesterday, in fact. Maybe I'm just late to the party with this information and it's not a secret, but I see so many complaints about it. The temp seems to be holding well, but that hygro was always my main complaint. I can post how to do it, if anyone is interested. You do have to know what the humidity actually is in the bator by using a hygro you have calibrated first, though.

If you don't mind and it's no trouble ya post it. Put keywords in your post, like... Hovabator Genesis 1588 hygrometer adjustment, etc.
Maybe in the future someone will do an internet search or BYC search and it'll find your post and help someone other then those reading this thread.

As someone who used to work at Goodwill........................ yeah, there were some interesting donations. most notably, a Walmart bag of thongs, and a fanny pack type thing that was found to contain MULTIPLE USED NEEDLES.
