Lost the youngest chick under One Leg. Quick glance showed no other losses. So she should have 3 Java mixes, 1 sexlink and the rest pheonixs. Also think I miscounted. I think she should have had 8, not 9 last night, so she should have 7 now. I'll check when I get home.

Yeah. As bad as it sounds, I'm glad it was a normal looking one at least. Still always a bummer when it's something that was avoidable, I just figured the water bowl was too high for them to fall into

Hey @The Moonshiner and @ColtHandorf, I’ve made some progress in my chicken coop shed but have yet to pick a paint color for the new nesting boxes. What do you guys think?

Hmmm. I feel like Moony wouldn't paint them at all. lol I'd be tempted to stain them to match that prefab? White always looks nice until a chicken touches it. A dark color might make the boxes feel more private without feeling the need to hand those ridiculous curtains that hold bird dander. I'd probably go with a light brown or blue? I'm not really sure. I always use milk crates and the metal nesting boxes from commercial barns.

I'm a giant fan of dark blue stain.
