The Moonshiner's Chick Chat

Pics
Boots got a new chick yesterday. I had given a local kindergarten eggs to hatch from my flock and only one managed to hatch before the power went out. The rest got shrink wrapped and died. Sad, but at least Boots took it like she had the alien chick we lost a week back. It was also a surprise…they were supposed to keep the chicks that hatched. My sister-in-law ( she’s a teacher at the school ) showed up at my work and was like “I have the chick the kindergarten hatched.”

Also, two of its toes never fully formed. Not sure what happened there as all of my chickens don’t have any defects like that. Issues during incubation?

Confused Thinking GIF

Cross breed of a Cuckoo maran and black cochin Bantam. That what mine look like.
Cuckoo Marans. With an S. Always an S. They are named after a port in France.
Oh cool! Had no idea that was a breed!
Variety. Cochin (or Pekin) across the pond is the breed. Cuckoo, Blue, Black, Splash, Buff, Red, Silver-laced, Gold-laced, Partridge, Lavender (Self-blue), etc. are varieties. :)
