The Moonshiner's Chick Chat

What do you do for feeders, and how often do you fill them up? I just realized that my pens will need feeders and waterers and don't want to mess with little rub;er bowls they're going to dump constantly
Pvc pipe feeders and buckets with nipples the only way to go

I do use rubber bowls of different sizes for all the waters. Most I raise so they don't throw crap in them. All are big enough to keep enough water for 2 or 3 days but I still water every day.
I've tried cups and nipples, fountains etc but they've just never worked out for me. Rubber bowls are easiest and quickest. Lots of pens so time is important.
In winter they're definitely nice. I can flip them and stomp on them then refill.

Feeders I use different things. Bowls, different pvc setups, etc. Depends on how many birds. Same with water I like to have at least two days feed but ya I still end up checking and filling every day.
Sometimes the fancy ideas end up not working and the ridiculous ideas do. Just experiment.
I have a pen with hens I'm not breeding. Probably 50 or 60 hens. I use 2 kiddie pools. They actually work great. They hold a lot of feed. A lot of birds can eat at once and it's tall enough they can hop in but don't kick feed out.

Okay. At least I already have a ton of those

Haven't posted on this thread in awhile.
So I have 2 new serama chicks. Mocha and Miracle. Miracle was abandoned by my broody hens that were fighting over the first chick Mocha. Miracle was partly hatched when I found her. She was I've cold and thought she died. Then I noticed a slight movement of her wing. I rushed inside and warmed her up by warm water, heater, towel and my body heat. It took about a hour to fully revive her but now she's doing fine. I'm keeping both her and Mocha inside due to the hen drama.

How much 💩 gets in them? I love this idea for the farm…

Idk if you can tell anything from this pic but this is from today untouched so 24 hours from last feeding.

I would call that an acceptable amount. Wish my Cornish bantams were that clean. They make cartoon pigs look clean enough to eat off
