You can reach out to a wildlife rescue to come take them,

Maybe I'll pump them full of food coloring first like they used to do with chicken eggs.
Then when they hatch they'll be all different colors just to add confusion for them.

Been busy and work too much. Had too many coons get things this year. Caught and disposed of 2 seperate families. Anyway, this last group got hold of my broody who was sitting on a clutch of green 2nd gen EE eggs, sired by my new Roo a Chocolate Cuckoo Orp. 5 survived to be incubated and hatched. Did I somehow get 4 chocolate barred chicks out of them? Or 4 chocolate somethings and 1 barred black?

If 10 out of 12 chicks you hatch are males, is it time to get rid of those hens or is the sample size too small to determine if they are truly male heavy?

I'd give them.the benefit of the doubt and try them specifically again

True. There were 10 others that didn’t even hatch. I’m sure they all would have been pullets

Hi everybody!

So I have about 120 chickens now. One of them decided to be sneaky and has a hidden clutch of eggs. I candled them today and they are about 7-10 days developed. Looks like I am having chicks soon....

I'm trying to get chicks hatching at least once a week but it will be very small numbers.

What determines the sex of the chick?
In mammals it's usually the male.
