The Moonshiner's Leghorns

These chickens are constantly throwing us curveballs! Most Ameraucanas people sell are really Easter Eggers and lay green eggs. The pure lines that lay blue are harder to find. Which you already know, since you used to breed them. (I read that you used to breed them in this thread as Ive been reading through it). Your little Buckeye Easter Egger crosses are so cute! 😍
Yeah.
Mom says the Ameraucana might have been sourced at a swap (as a chick, I would never risk bringing in strange adult birds and their diseases from a swap.) Anyway... That explains why it's actually an Easter Egger. But it's siblings really were blue, black, splash! I don't remember if they had leakage or not.

I completely agree with you there. We are strict when it comes to biosecurity, especially being NPIP participants we have to be super careful. And with avian influenza being bad in places right now apparently, I don’t want to risk buying adult birds unless the breeder is NPIP.

I have a little Splash Ameraucana hen and she lays a blue egg with little greenish brown specks. My husband says she looks like an owl and calls her “that owl chicken.” lol

Well you know, an owl-like head is required in the d'Anvers Standard so he's not wrong!

Oh so the pictures I see when I google Crele Leghorns are not even in this country then. Wow that stinks.
Unfortunately we are limited with varieties compared to overseas.
I mean there could be creles or crele projects here somewhere but I've had them for a few years and when I get something new on the ground I always search to see if there's others out there and I never seen anyone else with them.
Granted since it's been several years I haven't searched in a couple.

I found out there is a way I can sort by just the pictures, but stopped letting me load more after a certain point.View attachment 4084382
Anyway...
I was wondering

Could I please use a picture of this guy on my genetics blog Moony? I would credit you, of course :fl
I've never got a picture of a goldxsilver cross because too often Mahogany is involved and I don't know which roosters are genuinely just gold/silver duckwing!
Ya girl, you can use any pics of mine you want. No need to ask.
