The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Absolutely!

Imagine how many Leghorn colors i could have!

Even Black tailed Red!
You still have to build the pens, though...
When you have chickens, there is bound to be a few rats around. We have 2 farm cats and that helps quite a bit.
We had farm cats and they were useless in that endeavor
Well, the outdoor cats were babies and the indoor outdoor cats were useless

I have house chickens now. lol I keep newborns in the house for a day or two until they get on their feet well enough to go to the bigger brooders in the building. So this time of year we always have house chickens. 😬
Mine stay in the office/hatch room in my house for about a week as well. Then out to the garage till about 6 to 8 weeks then out to an integration pen.

We have different brooders for different stages. They go in the building in the big stock tank brooders once they are a few days old, then once they are about 2 weeks old they go into the wire bottomed brooders because they start flying out around then until around 6 weeks old. After that they go to the outdoor brooders until they are sturdy enough to turn out with the gen pop. We are constantly rotating chicks through this process this time of year. Most of the chicks we let free range until the breeders we need are old enough to be bred. Layers remain free ranging except for my husbands beloved White Leghorn hens and a few Sussex just because the white birds tend to be more prone to getting taken by predators.
