I line my two Genesis incubators I use as hatchers with paper towels for easier clean up. Works great. This was asked in my ask anything thread.
I have no idea and have never thought about something like this.
Anyone have thoughts, opinions?
So if the paper towels cover the bottom does it affect humidity? My Maticoopx has the water on the bottom with a rack over it where I will put the eggs when I take them out of the turning racks. If the bottom is covered with paper I worry it will change humidity. But then, even if the paper towels/coffee filters absorb water they are still in the same controlled environment... I am going to put two eggs each in 5 coffee filters at lockdown and if humidity is low I can always quickly remove them, the incubator recovers heat and humidity pretty fast I guess.I line my two Genesis incubators I use as hatchers with paper towels for easier clean up. I'm very interested in how it works out.So if the paper towels cover the bottom does it affect humidity? I use a bowl of water in the hatchers and a sponge. I do not utilize the humidity pans. So no the paper towels have zero interference on humidity. So if the paper towels cover the bottom does it affect humidity? If you utilize the humidity pan under the grate, humidity will be reduced because the surface area of water is reduced by the paper towels and the water can’t evaporate as easily. The evaporation is what causes an increase in humidity. So if you are using the factory humidity pans, the paper towel method wouldn’t work. I use a cool whip bowl of water and a sponge sticking out of it to get the perfect humidity for hatching. We use Cool Whip bowls for everything. So if the paper towels cover the bottom does it affect humidity? Well I am going to try it and watch the humidity display on the incubator if it is not getting high enough I will adjust accordingly. Maticoopx countdown timer says 8 days left, so 5 until lockdownI'm very interested in how it works out.
