The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Just Bluetooth it.
🙄 you know how long it took me to figure out how to Bluetooth earbuds?
What I probably need is a handful of squirrels, a large hamster wheel thingy, some tinfoil, alligator clips..... wait a minute I need to grab a pencil and write this sh!t down.

I usually always set eggs every 7 days. Seemed liked the way to go. Always set, lockdown and hatch on the same day of the week. Easy to keep track of. And 3 x 7 is 21 so maths well.
One year I wanted to maximize so I went every 6 days since 3 x 6 is 18 and that's lockdown day. Sometimes it was pushing things.
I'm thinking maybe switch to setting every 10 then 11 days.
Would storing eggs 10 or 11 days versus 7 would be that detrimental to hatchability? I could sure appreciate those extra few days in between hatches and the extra few days between cleaning and juggling brooders.
Thoughts?

I have experimented with this as well. I like setting weekly because the eggs are fresher, but when I push it to every 14 days I still get pretty good hatch rates. I think of how hens will lay a clutch of eggs over about two weeks before they go broody, and often they have a 90-100% hatch rate. I find hens on secret nests all the time with 10-12 eggs, and realistically those hens are probably only laying 5-6 eggs per week, so roughly it take them about 2 weeks to lay a clutch to suit them. So setting every 7-10 days is best, but pushing it to every 2 weeks is also fine. When I am collecting eggs from single pairs, I like collecting them for 2 weeks just so I have a decent clutch from them to set. But we have so many breeds that we rotate setting some breeds one week then some the next, so that we are always setting weekly. I typically set on Sundays, and lockdown on Thursdays, then hatch on Sundays. It helps to keep things straight that way.

Y'all, I am not okay waiting to hear from MM on my chicks being shipped. They are due to ship one day this week and I am a nervous wreck. I just want them to hurry up and get here, and all be alive. I am terrified of opening up the box and finding dead chicks. 😓

I bet they ship tomorrow

Hope they're not like ebay. I've had sellers there get a label and still not get it into the mail for 4 or 5 days.
Chicks can only survive for approximately 3 days after hatching without food/water so surely they will get them in the mail soon after hatching. Based on their website, they hatch on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays so I'm assuming since they printed the label today, they were due to hatch today? Gosh I hope so.
