Yeah I hate no shows. Aggravating to schedule around a time someone's supposed to show up and then they don't. That's common here and so common that when I try to buy something people often assume I'm going to do that. I'm usually 45 minutes to a hour from things I want. I tell people I want it and can leave right now to head your way. Then I ask if they will hold it for 1 hour so I don't drive all that ways it's been gas money to get there and have them say oh I just sold it. Most of them get very suspicious and I have to explain, look I'm an hour away and I will head that way right now.The other trouble is people will say they are coming by to get something and then don't. Or do and try to renegotiate price on the spot.
I'm poor with a lot of mouths to feed so....
Ya I've always fed 16% layer. I just tell them, hey I'm not making you live off scratch grains or cracked corn be happy.
I pay $18.99 for 50 pounds of chick starter/grower at TSC (Dumor, made by Purina). It's 20% protein.Had to buy producers pride feed for the chickens today to tide me over till payday. Am I the only one who buys the $23 to $27 dollar a bag feed? I feel bad for getting the producers pride because its only 16% protein and I normally feed 18% to 20% protein feeds. The producers pride stuff was $15.99 a 50lb bag. Cheapest I can get at TSC, I could go cheaper at Walmart for $13 for a 40lb bag.
I think its the same price here. I might switch from the Nutrena I've been useing. I really need to save some money somewhere. The normal purina is more expensive than the Nutrena I've been feeding.I pay $18.99 for 50 pounds of chick starter/grower at TSC (Dumor, made by Purina). It's 20% protein.
We Quakers have a policy of setting a fair price and not negotiating. I would like the whole world to operate that way.Yeah I hate no shows. I don't mind negotiating because I have no problem saying no and I'm good at it convincing them they want to pay what I'm asking. Besides that I am that guy that always tries to get a lower price too.
I need to. The last batch I have set right now go into lockdown today. If I set more that'll be a stretch until they hatch. If I had more going and a new batch would only extend hatching season an extra week it wouldn't seem as bad. If that makes any sense. Now is just good timing.Lol, But the question is... Will you?
I don't know enough about feed to attest to quality, but the chickens sure seem to love it.I think its the same price here. I might switch from the Nutrena I've been useing. I really need to save some money somewhere.
Have you checked to see if there's any feed mills around?I think its the same price here. I might switch from the Nutrena I've been useing. I really need to save some money somewhere. The normal purina is more expensive than the Nutrena I've been feeding.
They all sell purina and the milled they have is the sameish price. The one mill is 2hrs away and supports the local feed store and stores in the nearby towns.Have you checked to see if there's any feed mills around?
I used to buy different brands from different places and I knew of at least one mill but a couple people told me their feed wasn't up to par.
The store bought stuff when I got chick feed or layer crumbles was getting bad on being a lot of dust in it that went to waste. I checked the mill prices and they were too good to not give it a try.
I found not only it was a better price it seemed to be good feed. Not all the dust I had been dealing with and my birds did well on it and ate a bit less. Bonus when I opened a bag it even just smelled better. Not sure if that counts for anything or not.
