I think that it's cheaper to just buy a store bought chicken at the grocery store then the cost of the feed to raise a rooster to maturity to eat.

They are saying 105F here for this Friday.

It is, but the flavor of a rooster or older hen that has lived and free ranged is unmatched by store bought chicken. I have to grow a number of roosters out each year to choose the next crop of breeders so might as well eat the culls.

We were at 11° this morning and predicted 89° later this week. The roller-coaster ride this year is crazy. Spring is being such a tease.

Ya kind of seems like spring is being pushed out and winter and summer are fighting it out.
Nothing has greened up here yet so we'll see.

It is 33 degrees F here now. Can’t wait for the warm to come back.
