The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Thats why I like sticking to leghorns only. All I have to concern myself with is color/patterns and that's what's fun for me.
You start mixing in other breeds you have to worry about breeding their traits back out. Whether its egg color genes, skin color, comb type, crests or what not. Not something I want to worry about if at all possible.

I didn’t read through the whole thread so maybe this has already been said or the colors have already been seen, but I just thought maybe you’d like to check out Eye of the Rooster farms. I know Angel has some leghorns that he’s been working on for a few years and they only use pure leghorn blood. The new colors that just recently got released are beautiful. Like lavender cuckoo, red mottled, Crele, etc.

Thanks so much for the info. I checked them out too. It was almost like we both took the same page out of a book. Wanting new varieties and wanting to only use leghorn blood. So cool to see someone else with the same passion as me and actually putting birds on the ground.
I have done the barred lavenders and was working on the mottled lavenders but not in a hurry to continue either at this point. Just me but there wasn't enough contrast in the lavender and white to make them pop much. I am also working on crele. I have a young pullet that is just about to start laying so I will continue on with those.
I have seen red mottled pics from over sees. Not super excited about them but sure I'll end up with some if I live long enough.
Thanks again. Ive looked for other leghorn breeders that are branching out varieties for a few years now and theyre the only ones ive seen.
I'll have to keep an eye on them every now and again to see their progress.

Is he anywhere other than FB? I closed my FB account a few years ago and have zero desire to go back.
