The American Poultry Association outlines the process for getting a new breed or variety recognized here:I'm starting a breeding project to make some need breeds. But I don't know if there's a way to get a new breed recognized as official breed. I'm making new variety of polish hens called the checkered color and making a breed I call Giant Britchens Marans. Mixing Giant Colombian Sussex and french cuckoo marans you get a chicken that looks like a huge black Britchens maran.
My Orps are never quite leggy, but they go through a rough stage for sure. lolMaybe thats why I like modern game bantams so much. They look like they're stuck in that awkward leggy phase

Some of my Leghorns go through the stage I'm sure Jacin would love.My Orps are never quite leggy, but they go through a rough stage for sure. lol
No one but you is talking about Polish. The OP was talking about crossing Sussex and Marans. Those aren't polish
Yeah, I usually wait until at least nine months unless there's something I really don't like, like the number of points on a comb or something. Usually, by a year, they have filled out enough to decide if I want to keep them. Some of my Leghorns go through the stage I'm sure Jacin would love.
Leggy, unproportional and they move like they're out of balance.
I've learned not to get too hasty about writing them off until they're 10 months or so old.

Whatever. I'm surprised I could pay attention long enough, even to see they talked about Marans. I start scanning the minute I see poor sentence structure. I'm not even bothered enough by crossing different breeds at this point because the chances of meeting all the APA requirements for acceptance are practically zero.
Sounds like a disaster. They’re doing both
