Oh my goodness! Poor momma. And all those little babies. I've never seen babies on mom before. Just young ones a little older than that that are independent. No raccoons caught since the one but got something else today.
Seems every time I catch raccoons I then catch a possum.
Wasn't expecting this though....

babies? Kill babies? You're brutal.
No the boy wouldn't let me. We compromised and let them go down the road at the creek. He wanted to raise the babies as pets.![]()

Good on the boy.
Eh, I have had an opossum kill a bird over six months old. It was an extra cockerel, and too stupid to go back into the barn. Dummy decided to climb six inches up off the ground and go to sleep on a post lying on the ground. When I went out to lock the barn up, I saw the rest of them wandering around the yard. I shooed them back into the barn and went to look for the missing one and found a big male dragging a bird nearly twice his size off. He hadn't made it much further than where they had been sleeping. He ran up a tree to get away from me, and I tossed the bird into the woods. It was gone the next day.Possum aren't a serious risk, at most they'll grab some eggs and go.
Usually, though, I will see them standing next to the birds in the barn around the feeder, eating alongside them. They are goofy things. If there's easier food to be had, I think they opt for that.
I don't. I have two cameras I'm too stupid to set up.Does anyone have any good recommendations on wild game or security cameras? I’m moving all my chickens out to the country tomorrow and would really appreciate helpful advice.
