The Moonshiner's Leghorns

IDK who to blame. There are a few roosters running loose.
Should I take some vent pics?
Well, I meant more of the baby 😅. Already missing having puff balls and mine literally just started growing feathers

Dear BYC
I never thought it would happen to me .....
I think one of my roosters has changed genders. As I was feeding in the barn I heard the peeping of a chick. Confusion set in because there shouldn't be any chicks in the barn and the peeping sounded like it was up high
Like over my head high. I chalked it up to it must be a barn swallow chick or something. Still curious I followed the peeps. I have a pen with a stretched tarp as the top. It kinda sounded like that's where it was coming from.
Grabbing a ladder I climbed up to investigate. To my surprise there was a little chipmunk striped chick, one hatched egg shell and 6 other eggs. All leghorn eggs. No mother in sight.
Now what's odd is I have no known loose hens in the barn or anywhere.
I do have muscovy hens but I don't believe one could of brooded there without stretching the tarp down. Muscovies are kind of heavy.
But besides that who the hell laid the eggs?
The only logical conclusion is that one of the roosters has changed genders. Layed eggs and then hatched the chick.
Being a one time male I'm not surprised he didn't stick around once the chick hatched.
Strange days we're living in.
Impossible! One of your hens aquired male characteristics, rather. Hens can grow male feathers when their hormones are very low (ovary damage, molting season) and can even crow and develop other male characteristics.
Then, when production sets in, voila, it was a hen all this time! Males can’t grow ovaries.

I guess I can explain a little about my pen progress now.
It's gonna be a slow build and materials will be an ongoing issue I'm sure.

Starting the first side.
The posts are landscape timbers. I had just bought some a few weeks ago and had 4 left over so....
Yes it's 6' tall. All the metal is regular chain link fence parts. I have some 6' chain link and some of the pieces that I'm stealing from a different project I need to do.
I'm going with a plan to use chain link for the perimeter and then most likely something less expensive and not as heavy duty for the dividers.
The outside will be 24' X 24'. I'll then divide it in half running the same direction as that side the divide each side into 3 pens.
So 6- 8' X 12' pens.
Starting on the opposite side. As of now the second side is to the same point as the first but I haven't taken a pic yet.
