Actually @Overo Mare has two allies now, Moony. I loveeeeee my bantam Cochins and wish I had gotten them sooner.

Only thing is my roo sounds like a dang squeaky toy and he’s adjusted his crow to be louder to match my standards so he screams in a squeaky voice LOL

Split means it's carrying one copy of a gene that's not showing.
Self blue is lavender. Technically lavender is the name of the gene and self blue is the name of the color. Most call the gene and color lavender though.
Lavender is recessive so it takes two copies to show. When a bird has one copy it's referred to as split to lavender

They're different genes. You can have a blue bird that carries lavender, or you can have a blue bird without lavender

Orange Creamsicle, Chocolate Chip, Lemon Blackberry (which got messed up when I slammed on the brakes and threw everything into the floorboard to avoid mowing over a herd of wild hoglets that were crossing the road in a single file), and a snickerdoodle one.
