Sorry you lost a bunch of stuff.Ok, here's the deal.
We had that super cold week here a bit back and I lost a lot of birds. A lot.
Anyways not long after I lost a few more birds to an unknown predator. One was a lavender muscovy and one chocolate muscovy. The two colors I'm wanting to keep and work with. I was like oh hell no I'm in no mood to be losing more birds. Yes against Overo's advice most of my birds are now 24/7 free ranging so not ideal in the least for predator protection.
What's a Moony to do?ya that's it, trap and trap heavy. That'll do it. I set everything. A live trap,, Dog proof Dukes, and yes foot holds.
Ya not much success in catching anything but also not much in the way of further signs of birds taken. But ya I think Overomightmay have mentioned the dangers of foot holds and birds on the loose. Idk I have trouble listening but ya I ended up catching not only a chicken but a really nice one from my blue project. It shattered the bones and the lower leg was barely attached so I chopped it.
And Jacin yes she hasn't slowed down a bit. I think she's actually faster now. Add in she's not contained so ya fun times trying to catch her especially when she weaves through about 479 others and I'm trying to avoid stepping on any of them and also avoiding being hit in the head by anything flying and it gets interesting.
She easily hopped from a full on hop to the top of a 6' chainlink fence long enough to balance for a moment then take flight over the barn and land on top of the lean to.
Stay tuned for a name this one legged pullet thread.
I thought maybe the brown ones.Just the blue ones
Can you explain what Dun is? I mean appearance, where it comes from, and what's it's effect on offspring color. I've seen threads where it appears white, khaki, or mauve. I'm so confused.I used recessive chocolate (sex linked)
I would start it again if I had a bird that was chocolate.
I wouldn't want to mess with Dun/Khaki. I don't like the look as much and since it breeds like BBS I'd rather not have that in two projects. Sex linked would be more appealing.
Yes I'm still working with blue. My favorite ATM.
I'm working on......
Blue
Blue mottled
Blue gold duckwing
Blue silver gold duckwing
Maybe Blue barred next
