The Moonshiner's Leghorns

I had my Buffs and Browns from Don in a different brooder, thank God.

Had a big loss. I forgot to latch the pen on the big brooder yesterday when I was moving chicks and the goat must have pawed the door open to eat the chicken feed. As dumb as goats are, she knows how to open doors. The turkeys in the goat lot killed every… single… one. I am devastated. Feels like I took a round to the chest. Most of the chicks were my Red x Brown Leghorns. 😭😭😭
Holy crap that's horrible.
I'm sorry.

I'd cap the goat but that's probably just me. I had goats long enough to learn to despise them.

Yep my mum has goats and I despise them a lot for that very reason

Better round 'em up and lock 'em up
The ones free ranging are roosting in trees or a big empty pen and doing well. They arent around the goat lot and my husband likes for young birds to get their start free ranging before penning them. He says what makes it, makes it. It could have been much worse so I am trying to stay positive. I hadn’t put any of the Crele project birds or any Brown leghorns in there, so at this point I am counting my blessings and trying to not focus on the losses. 😑

My husband has threatened to make pepperoni out of mine. She didn’t mean any harm to the chickens. She is just a pest that likes chicken feed. The turkeys in there may all end up in the freezer for their wicked ways. They are just mixed varieties, nothing important.

Oh I have threatened to drop mums goats too.... they havent killed any birds but they have destroyed coops buy getting on the roofs 🤬

And I am sure the dogs were so confusion because here the stock they are there to protect is killing the stock they are also there to protect. The dogs killed several turkeys in their youth while being trained and were probably like “dude, what do we do? We get yelled at when we hurt the big bald headed birds.” So they obviously didn’t do anything to intervene in the massacre. It looks like all of the chicks had their necks broken. No blood, no wounds, barely a feather out of place. So bizarre.
