The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Mostly just cause he's raggedy looking, lol.
But ya he's smaller so there's that and that is probably why he's raggedy. Assuming he was towards the bottom of the pecking order in general population over the winter.
I don’t mind using smaller roosters if I have a good sized hen to pair him with. Send him to Kentucky. 🥳

I hatched this cute little thing in a group of crossbred eggs we set from our birds for a friend. I am keeping this one. It cheers me up. A little.

I’m not sure what color it will grow up to be, but it is my precious. 🥰

I think it is either a Turken/Game cross or a Turken/Legbar mix cross. I hope it’s a pullet.

My goats were the same. Idk why they love chicken feed so much. I had nigerians so small. Back then everything ran free in the yard. I thought I was brilliant because I drove four posts in the ground and put a piece of plywood on top so it was really low to the ground. You know chickens could go under and get food but way too low for the goats.
You wouldn't believe how many times I had to drag a screaming goat out from under it when the belly crawled and got stuck bigger then sh!....
That setup didn't last long.

Ever been catching up in a thread and get the feeling you must have missed a post of few so you go back a couple pages and start seeing several posts you don't remember so you read through them and then realize a few of the posts were yours that you don't remember either?
Account hacked or I'm losing it. 🤔

These are Dorking breed hens View attachment 4133437

How are they genetically different to silver duckwing?
Leg colour is different
And they are chunky bodied compared to a Leghorn.

Could they be used to make a silver duckwing Leghorn line?
They are genetically silver duckwing, and aside from what was mentioned red earlobes
Anything can be used in a project if you are ambitious enough and like culling. Overall it's not the worst because most of the traits you'd have to breed out are dominant.

Red earlobes but white eggs that's correct?

Tossed 2 clears from the 30 eggs in the MaticoopX.
No blood rings so everything else went into lockdown. I candle on day 18 for clears and usually blood rings are obvious enough to see. Everything else stays. I don't check for movement or anything like that.
I was surprised out of 42 eggs only 3 were clear. I collected some like a day or two after setting up the pens. Good job boys.
