The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Ya that's a good hatch. It's been a rough hatching season so really thrilled with this one.
About a dozen more like it I'd be ecstatic. Unfortunately I don't think there's that many days left in the season.
Congratulations on the great hatch! I love all of the variety in the chicks you hatched! 🥰

It is so hot and humid here, I am thankful to not be hatching right now. I am not complaining about the heat at all, as I prefer the heat to the cold, but the brooder building gets way too hot in the summer. And feathers are dropping like crazy, so it appears the molt is in full swing.

I brood newborn chick's in what was one of the spare bedroom's in the house. It's worked for year's.

I do the same. There are 5 chicks in the brooder right now, all large, lively, and feisty. Praying they are not 5 cockerels....

That business with the gnats bothers me. Why only the brown colored Leghorns?

I honestly don't know exactly what was going on. I had enough grief from them years ago and quit following them.
I know even back then there was always something negative going on to cause set backs with orders or availability.
Threads popped up here from time to time and I was sometimes active in them and sometimes just reading.
I know a friend was getting upset with them and at the time they were listing a lot of breeds unavailable because of numerous predators.
It happens to the best of us but it seemed to the point of omg you're losing so much to everything. Are you doing anything proactive, defensively, anything?
I think there ended up being several breeds/varieties wiped out or set back because of the gnats. That was the straw that broke the camels back for me.
Just way too much negativity involved for me.
